In Salem, Oregon, a neighborhood association is simply a section of the city, a community. There are nineteen neighborhood associations in Salem. If you live in Salem, you live in one of these neighborhood associations.

Your association is the most effective way to get in touch with what is happening in your local community and the City of Salem.

Not a Homeowners Association

Please don't confuse a neighborhood association with a homeowners association. Many homeowners associations mandate paint colors and restrict what may be placed in windows and yards. Neighborhood Associations are nothing like that, especially in Salem.

No fees or dues exist, nor is any commitment required. Plus, there is nothing to join. You are already part of your association.

Role of Neighborhood Associations

The role of the neighborhood association is to ensure that your voice is heard. Each neighborhood association is recognized by Salem City Council as an official voice of the community (Salem Revised Code Chapter 64). Associations take action in their neighborhoods and make recommendations to City Council and other official bodies.

The City of Salem supports neighborhood associations. For example, the City regularly sends representatives with information on proposed projects to neighborhood association meetings.

At neighborhood association meetings, you can get the facts and ask your questions. You may be involved as little or as much as you would like. There is never an obligation to attend or to speak at meetings, but there is always the opportunity.

Map of Faye Wright Neighborhood Association

The Faye Wright Neighborhood Association is shaped like a triangle, bordered by Liberty Road S, Commercial Street SE, and Kuebler Boulevard SE. It is located a few miles south of downtown Salem.

The Faye Wright Neighborhood Association meets bi-monthly. Each meeting brings updates on city projects and activities, a crime report, and discussions on any topics that our neighbors wish to bring up. A police officer and city staff are in attendance whenever possible to answer any questions and concerns.

You are welcome to join our next meeting. More information on meetings, including times and driving directions, is on our Meetings page.
